LONDON, June 13 (Bernama) -- The government does not practice any discrimination in the education field as it treats all schools alike in Malaysia, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said although the government made announcements on high performing and best schools, the fact was the government gave such recognition so that they could act as models for others to emulate.
He said this during a dialogue with Malaysian student leaders in the United Kingdom at the Malaysian High Commission here today.
Muhyiddin was responding to some dissatisfaction expressed by one the leaders that there was a disparity in the government's treatment of schools, especially involving those in the interiors of Sabah and Sarawak.
According to Muhyiddin, there was no let up on the part of the government in implementing various improvement programmes for schools in the two East Malaysian states.
